Benefits of Pilates - Discover the Real Benefits

     Print Article

Pilates has been around for many years and many know it is a great routine for posture and fitness. It is also well known as a program to give you a flat stomach. Pilates exercises target the deep core abdominal muscles specifically to achieve spinal core stability and a better aligned posture.

There are many more benefits of Pilates, though. I have discovered the real benefits only come from actually learning how to use Pilates in your daily life. This knowledge gives a person maximum benefit to their health and well being. Pain control is one of them. Pain management for the lower back cannot be achieved unless and person uses Pilates every day all day.

This is different to attending a class and following a leader. The absolute true benefits of Pilates will only be achieved by learning Pure Pilates and how to function with deep core strength in every movement.
Learning Pilates is different to attending a series of classes.
When a person signs up and attends classes on a regular basis they will follow a gym leader and copy the exercises, usually to music and have fun at the same time as exercising. In many classes though the benefits of Pure Pilates are not achieved because the leader is not or has not taught the participants HOW to achieve good core stability. Following an exercise leader can be great fun but if you are paying extra money because they are Pilates exercises then in many cases you are being deceived.
I am a Physiotherapist and I teach Pilates to my patients for life. The benefits of Pilates are many and absolutely make a difference to your body. If you learn and practice Pure Pilates you will have a flat toned stomach a smaller and tighter waist line and a stronger pelvic floor. The greatest benefit though is a strong stable spine in the lower back. This will give you the best pain management you can achieve for lower back pain.
The benefits are only achieved if the correct instructions are given and the knowledge is learnt not just followed. If this knowledge of core function is practiced daily when performing every movement then the automatic function of the core improves and the benefits are ongoing. It does not require you to keep attending a class every week for ever after. The benefits are also in the time you use to attend classes and the money it costs is saved.
In closing I recommend to gain the maximum benefit from Pilates then learn from an expert.
You can have a strong core with a flat tummy and a good posture just by knowing how to train and use your core. This is not a follow the leader program, you will learn for yourself about yourself.
